Disaster Relief in Cebu
What’s going on now:
The Philippines has faced multiple natural hazards recently (typhoons, floods, earthquakes) that have displaced hundreds of thousands of people, destroyed homes, infrastructure (schools, hospitals), and disrupted basic services like clean water, sanitation, and health care. After the recent magnitude-6.9 earthquake in Cebu province, more than 72 people died, and hundreds were injured. Over 699,000 people were affected; tens of thousands of houses were destroyed or damaged.
What United Filipinos will do:
Rapid response efforts to provide shelter, food, safe drinking water, hygiene kits, and emergency medical supplies to communities affected by disaster.
Support rebuilding efforts: helping repair or rebuild homes, schools, health centres to ensure displaced people can return to safe environments.
Strengthen community resilience through disaster preparedness training, early warning systems, and helping communities plan for how to withstand future disasters (including climate-adaptation measures).
Prioritize outreach to remote and hard-hit areas, and partner with local agencies and organizations to ensure aid reaches those who need it most.
